Job Description:

Wenco International Mining Systems, a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM), provides industry leading, innovative technologies to customers in the mining and material movement sectors, enabling sustainable and safe operations. We're seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Safety product line team. We're a team of experienced engineers with extensive product development backgrounds, and we're looking for someone who believes in ownership and loves writing maintainable, scalable solutions.

Job Responsibility:

Be our go-to expert for Python and AWS Jedi, helping elevate our product to new heights
Challenge the status quo - ask 'why do we do it this way?' and propose better approaches
Mentor other team members and share your technical knowledge generously
Communicate technical information clearly with internal stakeholders including developers, product owners, and solution architects. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies
Engage in learning and improvement opportunities within the engineering team (code reviews, evolving engineering standards). Stay current with industry trends and best practices. Contribute to knowledge sharing and professional development across the R&D organisation

Requirements:

5+ years' experience as a software engineer
Strong Python application development experience
Experience designing and developing scalable, secure containerised applications using microservice architecture on AWS
Enthusiasm for learning new technologies, tackling complex problems, and working collaboratively
Experience in multidisciplinary agile software development teams
Passion for mentoring developers and fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent
Must be eligible to work in Canada/Australia

Nice to have:

Experience maintaining and extending C++ based software
Exposure to .NET MAUI, Xamarin, or similar cross-platform frameworks for mobile development. Understanding of Android or iOS development
Prior experience with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications
