Job Description:

We’re looking for a talented Server-Side Tech Lead to help build our next-generation Developer Experience platform using Kotlin, within Citi’s CTO organisation. The position involves designing and building resilient systems, integrating APIs, architecture patterns, and taking ownership of backend infrastructure. The role includes the opportunity to shape experiences for thousands of engineers globally while working in a small high-impact team.

Job Responsibility:

Connect with upstream systems and ship to production
Create system architecture and establish key relationships with engineering teams
Design a systems architecture considering real-time requirements and data integration
Establish architectural principles, system requirements, and ways of working
Integrate upstream APIs and solve engineering challenges
Take full technical ownership of backend platform
Improve speed and scalability of the platform to support large-scale usage

Requirements:

Strong server-side engineering skills: Kotlin, building and consuming RESTful APIs, asynchronous programming
Proficiency with relational and/or NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB
Experience with message queuing systems: Apache Kafka
Deep understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Tekton and deployment automation platforms like Harness
Comfortable collaborating with product, design, and UI engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust backend solutions
