Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our team responsible for developing our capabilities for downlinking data from the satellites. This encompasses integrating with streams from ground station providers, which includes decoding, error correction, decryption and routing of payload data for further processing. The ground stations are globally distributed and data must be highly available and delivered with low latency. The successful candidate will possess hands-on experience in designing, implementing and operating end-to-end data delivery and ingestion systems. The ideal candidate actively contributes to the team's knowledge and processes, understanding that complex problems are best solved through cooperation rather than individual exceptionalism. As this is a senior role, the candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in taking ownership and driving significant feature initiatives from initial concept and architectural design through to successful deployment and post-launch monitoring. Success is measured by outcomes, and we value individuals who are focused and driven to achieve those outcomes. Our technology stack comprises Go and Python (the team works mostly with Golang), running on both AWS cloud and on-premise Kubernetes infrastructure. We mainly utilize Postgres as our data store.

Job Responsibility:

  • Developing capabilities for downlinking data from the satellites
  • Integrating with streams from ground station providers, which includes decoding, error correction, decryption and routing of payload data for further processing
  • Designing, implementing and operating end-to-end data delivery and ingestion systems
  • Taking ownership and driving significant feature initiatives from initial concept and architectural design through to successful deployment and post-launch monitoring

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar field
  • 5+ years of software engineering work experience
  • Pragmatic software engineering skills in Go, Python or a similar language having a strong level of competency in at least one of them
  • Proven track record of building and operating high-performance distributed systems
  • Experience in modeling and implementing relational data structures and RESTful APIs
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to identify, research and resolve new problems, including those involving new technologies
  • Keen interest and pragmatic experience in using AI/LLM tools assisting software development
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong team-working and communication skills in English

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS
  • Experience working with data infrastructure at scale or a related area
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and GitOps workflows
What we offer:
  • Occupational healthcare, occupational and private insurance
  • A yearly benefit budget to spend as you wish (i.e. on sport, transport, bike benefit, wellness, lunch, etc.)
  • Phone subscription with iPhone of choice
  • Relocation support (i.e. flight tickets, accommodation, relocation agency support)
  • Time for self-development, research, training, conferences, or certification schemes
  • Inspiring and collaborating offices and silent workspaces enable you to focus
  • A wide variety of the best coffee, tea, snacks, and sweets to accompany your daily space mission
