Job Description:

At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it. The Foundations team sits at the heart of Vanta’s architecture and is critical to unlocking current and future Vanta products. We fetch, process, and serve the core resource and evidence data that powers Vanta. As a member of this team, you’ll work on the source-of-truth systems that enable core Vanta compliance and auditing experiences. We’re looking for a senior backend engineer who thrives on shipping quickly, solving real customer problems, and building reliable systems that scale.

Job Responsibility:

  • Improve the scalability and reliability of our core data systems
  • Help define and evolve how we model, store, and query resource data across Vanta
  • Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to understand user needs and prioritize impactful work
  • Ship quickly and experiment thoughtfully to validate ideas and drive product velocity
  • Act as a cultural beacon, setting an example for effective, collaborative engineering and helping mentor junior team members
  • Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
  • Drive initiatives to increase operational posture and execution quality across the engineering organization

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Comfortable operating robust distributed systems and navigating scaling challenges
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture
  • Care deeply about understanding and solving customer problems
  • Work well in environments that value decisive action and getting things done
  • Bias towards shipping quickly to validate ideas and experiment
  • Have led meaningful technical projects from concept to completion
  • Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work
What we offer:
  • Offers Equity
  • Medical benefits
  • 401(k) plan
  • Other company perk programs
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only benefit premiums covered for most medical plans
  • 16 weeks fully-paid Parental Leave for all new parents
  • Health & wellness stipend
  • Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend
  • Commuter benefits for team members who report to the SF and NYC office
  • Family planning benefits
  • Matching 401(k) contribution with immediate vesting
  • Flexible PTO policy, plus 80 hours of Sick Time
  • 11 company-paid holidays
  • Virtual team building activities, lunch and learns, and other company-wide events
