Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Development Manager to join our Expense Management Engineering team. This role presents a unique opportunity to create a 'zero to one', AI-powered Billing Agent from scratch. You will lead the charge in using both machine learning and generative AI to build practical solutions that automate how our customers manage their finances. You'll be responsible for creating and executing a cohesive invoicing and billing strategy across multiple Clio products. Your work will be the foundation for how we scale these critical functions globally as we expand into international markets.

Job Responsibility:

  • Roll up your sleeves and deep dive into the technology & code to get things done and help managers & developers better understand what is possible
  • Lead a growing team focused on Clio's core billing, invoicing, and expense portfolio
  • Guide the technical strategy for innovation projects, including the development of an AI-powered billing agent
  • Directly supervise, mentor, and collaborate with engineering managers and individual contributors who are in the thick of it every day
  • Partner with leadership in Product Management and Product Design to envision, develop, and execute on our product roadmap
  • Work closely with the Recruiting/People team to actively recruit and hire top talent to support Clio’s ambitious growth plans for its engineering department

Requirements:

  • Experienced engineering leader who's still comfortable pushing code to production when necessary
  • A background in FinTech, with direct experience in billing, invoicing, or expense management systems
  • Adept at making critical technical decisions to guide your team and ensure the long-term health of the system
  • Proven track record in scaling services and systems with experience in projects built for scalability
  • Adept at managing and mentoring high-performing teams, nurturing talent, and guiding individuals toward professional growth and development
  • Experienced in crafting long-term strategies and managing technical roadmaps that pave the way for future growth
  • Successful running agile organizations at scale, with a sense of urgency to deliver quality software to solve customer problems
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting positive culture and diversity throughout a large engineering organization to achieve transformational change
