Job Description

Wakefield Council is seeking a skilled and resilient Senior Social Worker to join their dedicated Localities team based out of the historic Featherstone Town Hall. Job Responsibility

  • Frontline Safeguarding: Executing high-quality Child Protection plans and managing complex risk dynamically
  • Court Proceedings: Preparing robust assessments, writing statements, and confidently presenting evidence within both public and private law court frameworks
  • Child-Centred Practice: Ensuring the voice of the child remains central to all interventions, assessments, and care plans
  • Peer Support: As a Senior worker, providing informal mentoring and support to less experienced team members when required

Requirements

  • A recognized Social Work qualification and an active registration with Social Work England
  • Current CP Experience: recent, direct experience working within a fast-paced statutory Child Protection and/or Court team
  • Pace & Resilience: proven ability to manage tight statutory deadlines, handle complex care proceedings, and adapt to a fast-moving service
  • Mobility: a valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle to cover visits across the local patch
  • Children services
  • be able to manage challenging situations
  • education: BA in social work
