Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Social Worker to deliver high-quality, person-centred adult social care, ensuring robust assessments, effective safeguarding, and positive outcomes for service users. This role sits within Portsmouth’s Adult Care and Support Community Teams, working with adults with complex needs and their carers to assess, plan and deliver personalised support.

Job Responsibility

  • Take a strengths-based, evidence-led approach
  • Manage your own caseload autonomously
  • Contribute to safeguarding activity, multi-disciplinary working, and service development
  • Supervise staff and support continuous improvement
  • Maintain professional development in line with Social Work England standards

Requirements

  • Qualified and registered social worker with relevant post-qualifying training
  • Strong knowledge of adult social care frameworks
  • Thorough understanding of key legislation such as the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act
  • Excellent assessment, supervision, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload efficiently and maintain accurate, evidence-based records suitable for legal use
  • Clear commitment to person-centred, strength-based practice and safeguarding
  • Familiarity with processes such as Continuing Health Care
  • Flexibility, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently under pressure
  • Ability to use IT systems effectively and communicate clearly with service users in spoken English
