Job Responsibility:
Case Leadership: Manage a reduced, specialized caseload consisting of the most complex or high-risk cases, often involving high-level risk assessment, complex family dynamics, and court proceedings (Public Law Outline / PLO)
Expert Consultation: Provide formal and informal consultation, guidance, and support to colleagues and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) on complex statutory requirements and risk management
Legal Expertise: Take the lead role in preparing comprehensive court statements, care plans, and attending court hearings, ensuring robust analysis and evidence-based decision-making
Quality Assurance: Act as a champion for best practice, contributing to service audits and quality assurance processes within the team
Mentorship: Support the professional development of team members through reflective supervision and peer coaching
Requirements:
Recognised professional Social Work qualification
Current and active registration with Social Work England (SWE)
Significant post-qualification experience (typically 3+ years) in a statutory Children's Social Care setting (e.g., Assessment, Child Protection, or Permanence)
A proven track record of successfully managing complex care proceedings and managing high-risk case dynamics independently
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to confidently influence and lead peer
