Job Description:

Newcastle Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Long-Term Team. We are looking for a skilled professional to manage complex cases and provide leadership in our child protection services. This role is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families in the Newcastle area.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a complex and diverse caseload of children and families
  • Conduct comprehensive risk and parenting assessments and develop effective care plans
  • Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for court proceedings
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced social workers within the team
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners to ensure the best outcomes for children
  • Lead and participate in team meetings and professional development sessions

Requirements:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Diploma in Social Work, BA/MA in Social Work)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Significant post-qualification experience in statutory child protection, court work, and case management
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding caseload
  • Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills
  • A commitment to trauma-informed practice and child welfare
