Job Description:

Wakefield Children in Care Service is seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Senior Social Worker to join our committed and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who are looked after or subject to care proceedings. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality safeguarding and care planning, ensuring children receive the stability, protection, and support they need to thrive.

Job Responsibility:

  • Hold responsibility for a caseload of looked after children and children subject to care proceedings
  • Undertake statutory duties in line with the Children Act 1989 and associated legislation
  • Develop and implement effective care plans promoting stability, permanence, and positive outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies
  • Prepare high-quality, analytical reports for court
  • Attend court hearings and contribute to decision-making processes
  • Promote a child-centred, strengths-based approach to practice

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Significant experience within Children in Care/Looked After Children services
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding frameworks
  • Experience of court work and report writing
  • Excellent assessment, planning, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work confidently with complex cases
