Job Description

Senior Social Worker - Children in Care & Care LeaversService Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join Newcastle City Council's Children in Care & Care Leavers Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Social Worker who is passionate about supporting children in care and young people transitioning into adulthood. You'll play a vital role in helping young people achieve positive outcomes by delivering high-quality statutory social work services and building strong, supportive relationships.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a complex caseload of children in care and care leavers
  • Complete statutory visits, assessments, care planning and pathway planning
  • Develop and review care plans that promote the safety, wellbeing and long-term aspirations of children and young people
  • Support young people as they transition to independence, ensuring they receive the guidance and services they need
  • Work in partnership with families, carers, education providers, health professionals and partner agencies
  • Prepare high-quality court reports, assessments and case records
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with statutory legislation, local procedures and best practice standards
  • Champion the voice of the child and ensure their wishes and feelings remain central to all decision-making

Requirements

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Experience working within Children's Social Care
  • Previous experience working with Children in Care and/or Care Leavers
  • Strong knowledge of relevant children's legislation and safeguarding procedures
  • Excellent assessment, report writing and case management skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment
