Our client, a national communications agency, is looking for a Senior Social Media Strategist for a maternity leave cover from January-March 2026. This person will play a key role in shaping and executing integrated social strategies that drive brand relevance, engagement, and measurable business impact across the agency. This role partners closely with creative, strategy, analytics, and account teams to develop platform-native social approaches rooted in insights, culture, and data. The Senior Social Media Strategist will oversee social content review, performance reporting, and social listening efforts while translating findings into actionable recommendations. Prior agency experience required. This is a remote maternity leave cover position from January-March that requires CST hours.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and lead comprehensive social media strategies aligned to client objectives, brand positioning, and audience insights
Create strategic social briefs that inform creative development across platforms and formats
Review social content to ensure strategic alignment, platform best practices, brand voice, and cultural relevance
Oversee social listening initiatives to identify trends, audience sentiment, competitive insights, and opportunities for real-time or proactive engagement
Analyze and report on social performance, translating data into clear insights, learnings, and optimization recommendations
Partner with analytics and media teams to define KPIs, measurement frameworks, and performance benchmarks
Stay current on platform updates, emerging social trends, creator ecosystems, and cultural moments to inform strategy
Collaborate cross-functionally with creative, account, and production teams to ensure cohesive execution
Support new business efforts by contributing to pitch strategy, social POVs, and presentation development
Help evolve internal social strategy processes, tools, and best practices
Requirements:
5–8+ years of experience in social media strategy, preferably within a marketing or advertising agency environment
Proven experience developing social strategies across major platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, emerging channels)
Strong understanding of social content formats, platform algorithms, and best practices
Experience with social listening tools, performance reporting, and insight-driven optimization
Ability to translate data, trends, and cultural insights into clear strategic direction
Strong writing and presentation skills, with experience developing briefs and client-facing materials
Experience collaborating with creative teams and reviewing content for strategic integrity
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Nice to have:
Experience supporting new business pitches or growth initiatives is a plus
