Job Description:

We are seeking an exceptional technology leader to oversee our global site reliability engineering (SRE), DevOps, and Platform Engineering teams. This hands-on engineering leadership role requires someone who can both provide technical vision and build strong stakeholder relationships across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership to drive our engineering excellence forward.

Job Responsibility:

Serve as a hands-on technical leader who can architect, design, and guide the implementation of highly resilient systems
Build a compelling vision and strategic roadmap for our SRE, DevOps, and Platform Engineering functions
Establish and evangelize engineering best practices across teams and the wider organization
Drive technical innovation while ensuring operational excellence
Provide architectural guidance to ensure systems meet resilience, scalability, and performance requirements
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of DynamoDB specialists, SREs, DevOps engineers, and platform engineers across global locations
Develop team members through goal setting, performance management, and career development planning
Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence
Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent
Create growth opportunities for team members and help them achieve their career aspirations
Build and maintain strong relationships with technology and business stakeholders across the organization
Effectively translate business requirements into technical solutions and strategic initiatives
Partner with development team managers and technical leads to align platform capabilities with product roadmaps
Represent the team in senior leadership forums and drive cross-functional initiatives
Manage expectations and communicate effectively about team initiatives, capabilities, and constraints

Requirements:

Extensive experience in engineering leadership roles
Strong hands-on technical background in cloud platforms, containerization, and modern DevOps practices
Demonstrated experience leading SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering teams
Deep understanding of system architecture, resilience patterns, and high-availability design
Experience developing strategic roadmaps and executing technical vision
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Track record of mentoring and developing engineering talent
Experience leading distributed global teams

Nice to have:

Experience in financial services technology environments
Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, observability platforms, and CI/CD technologies
Background in transforming legacy systems to modern architectures
Experience with DynamoDB and cloud-native database technologies
Understanding of UK and global financial regulatory requirements
