Join our Translational Biology team to help turn biological insight into tomorrow's therapies. Orbis Medicines is a pioneering Biotech company powered by our automated nGen chemistry platform and data-driven approach. We develop oral alternatives to injectable biologics and design drugs for hard-to-drug targets primarily in inflammation and immune-driven diseases. As an experienced In Vitro Biologist, you will join our experienced Translational Biology team in Copenhagen. The team supports drug discovery from target selection through advanced hit and candidate selection with strong emphasis on disease understanding and building translational links. The work spans in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo studies and biomarker development to support FiH clinical trials. You will be part of an open and collaborative working environment where new ideas are welcomed.
Job Responsibility:
Design, establish, and optimize disease-relevant cell-based assays to characterize function and potency of drug candidates
Perform and interpret critical experiments, particularly during assay setup, troubleshooting, and at key decision points
Ensure data quality, robustness, and biological relevance of in vitro datasets
Lead in vitro pharmacology efforts within discovery projects and define assay strategies that support translational understanding and go/no-go decisions
Contribute deep understanding of disease biology and cellular mechanisms to guide target selection and project strategy
Communicate complex scientific data clearly to multidisciplinary stakeholders
Identify, evaluate, and recommend relevant expert CRO’s and collaboration partners for assay and model development
Oversee CRO-generated data packages, providing scientific direction, critical review, and integration into internal project decisions
Identify and implement new assay technologies, platforms, and experimental approaches that strengthen translational confidence
Collaborate closely with Screening Biology, DMPK and project teams to ensure alignment across discovery stages
Requirements:
A Ph.D. in biology, biomedicine, or a related field
+5 years of industry experience in Pharma or Biotech
Strong track record in drug discovery and early development
Proven expertise in cell-based assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting across multiple assay modalities (e.g. functional assays, ligand-based assays, flow cytometry) and a keen interest in lab-based work
Scientific background in immunology, chronic inflammatory diseases, and/or cardiometabolic diseases
Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on experimental work with scientific leadership and external oversight
Nice to have:
Experience with design and interpretation of in vivo pharmacology studies using disease-relevant animal models is an advantage
