Job Description:

Senior Scientist, Mass Spectrometry - Contract - Tarrytown, NY. Proclinical is seeking a highly motivated Scientist in support our client's R&D programs. Our client focuses on using Mass Spectrometry for the biochemical characterization of emerging novel therapeutic modalities as well as therapeutic monoclonal antibodies at all stages of development.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop LC-MS methods and/or other analytical strategies for elucidating and characterizing novel therapeutics and antibody attributes
  • Conduct analytical method qualification and develop innovative technologies to support a diverse R&D pipeline
  • Develop primarily LC-MS based analytical methods to support various R&D programs
  • Perform LC-MS data analysis using various software and bioinformatic tools to elucidate the quality attributes of therapeutic proteins and other novel modalities
  • Support R&D activities and regulatory applications
  • Perform sample preparation and LC-MS-based experiments independently based on SOPs
  • Document experiments, results and findings in electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) entries
  • Present data at group and project meetings
  • Write technical reports, SOPs, and regulatory filing reports
  • Summarize results in a concise format to support presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and regulatory documents

Requirements:

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
  • 5+ years of industrial or academic experience for a master's degree or 0-3 years for a PhD degree
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in LC-MS based sample preparation for proteins and peptides
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies and solve problems
  • Passion for science
  • Motivation to contribute within a team environment
  • Motivated, results-driven, efficient, and able to perform key responsibilities in an innovative, fast-paced, team environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience in specialized LC-MS based techniques such as hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) and quantitative proteomics
  • Knowledge and experience in AAV virology and structural biology
  • Knowledge in enzyme function and kinetics
