Job Description:

As a Roads Designer, you will transform engineering concepts into constructible designs that shape the future of transport infrastructure. You will play a vital role in developing high-quality design models, drawings, and documentation that support the safe and efficient delivery of roads and highways projects. You’ll be part of a collaborative and multidisciplinary team working on some of Australia’s most significant transport infrastructure projects, reimagining how roads can shape a more sustainable and connected world.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and produce detailed road and civil design models to produce drawings using geometric design packages such as OpenRoads Designer or 12d
  • Interpret design standards and translate engineering input into 3D models and provide outputs for plan production
  • Collaborate with engineers and drafters to ensure accuracy, constructability, and integration of design elements
  • Assist with digital design processes and participate in design reviews
  • Apply quality assurance and Aurecon design protocols throughout the project lifecycle
  • Apply Austroads guidelines and Main Roads WA Supplements to Austroads, to produce accurate and detailed road designs that will range from concept designs all the way through to construction stages

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or any relevant courses
  • Competence in Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • Demonstrated Australian design experience, including application of Austroads Design Guidelines
  • Circa 7-10+ years design experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Applicants with 12d road design experience are encouraged to apply, with an appetite to develop Open Roads Design capabilities in the future – through on the job learning

Nice to have:

  • 12d experience (if no ORD experience) and a willingness to learn ORD with the goal to deliver designs in ORD in the future
  • AutoCad / Civil 3d experience
  • Bentley ProjectWise experience –content engine model management
