Job Description:

We are a SaaS startup looking for an experienced Senior Revenue Accountant to join our team in San Francisco, California. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing revenue-related financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and delivering accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue recognition and expertise in industry-specific accounting practices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Execute ASC 606 revenue recognition and validate inputs with revenue operations and FP&A
  • Reconcile revenue, deferred revenue, AR, unbilled AR, and cost of sales
  • Maintain cost-of-sales schedules and ensure GL and system accuracy
  • Support monthly reporting, including variance analysis and KPIs
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and close schedules for assigned areas
  • Manage tie-outs and resolve discrepancies with cross-functional partners
  • Perform revenue controls and maintain audit-ready documentation
  • Document procedures, improve processes, and support audits and PBCs
  • Respond to auditor inquiries accurately and on time
  • Partner with revenue operations, FP&A, Legal, offshore teams, and external vendors to ensure accurate revenue data and efficient workflows

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, including startup companies
  • CPA/public accounting preferred
  • Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, particularly ASC 606
  • Hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills for data analysis
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator
  • Analytical, self-directed, and comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments

  • Prepare supporting schedules to ensure all contracts and modifications are properly analyzed and documented, and the resulting revenue calculations align with the technical accounting conclusions and the Company’s revenue policies
  • Own accurate and timely billing operations, including review of sales taxes on invoices
  • Own sales tax compliance review to review exposure periodically
  • Maintain revenue accounting records in the system up to date.
  • Contribute to the month-end close process including journal entries, account reconciliations and fluctuation analysis related to revenue cycle.
  • Responsible in sales tax filings
  • Work closely with FP&A to assist their revenue forecast and Budget vs. Actual analysis
  • Respond to ad hoc management requests related to revenue cycle
  • Seek continuous process improvement in day-to-day activities.
