We’re seeking an experienced Senior Resource Specialist (Power Marketer) to join a high-performing energy team focused on power markets, trading, and energy procurement. Job Responsibility
Analyze power and energy markets to identify trading, hedging, and procurement opportunities
Execute and support transactions involving Energy, Resource Adequacy, Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), Carbon Allowances, and Transmission Capacity
Develop market insights and strategies to manage portfolio risk
Collaborate with operations, scheduling, and analytics teams to support energy trading activities
Negotiate and manage energy agreements, including PPAs, Resource Adequacy contracts, and other long-term transactions
Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, power producers, and market participants
Utilize ETRM systems and analytical tools to evaluate opportunities and exposures
Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy Management, Mathematics, Business, or a related field
Minimum 6 years of direct experience in Power Trading, Energy Origination, Energy Marketing, or Energy Risk Management
Strong knowledge of wholesale power markets, particularly CAISO
Experience with ETRM platforms such as Allegro, Endur, OATI, PCI, or similar
Advanced financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills
Knowledge of energy derivatives, renewable energy markets, battery storage valuation, and power purchase agreements
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Must have direct experience in Power Trading or Energy Origination
Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
No H-1B sponsorship or visa transfers available
Candidates must not be current CalPERS retirees or active CalPERS members
Local Southern California
Ability to work a hybrid schedule and commute to the Los Angeles office as required
