Job Description:

To lead the delivery of a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people. As a Senior, you provide high-level personalised care while overseeing shift operations and ensuring regulatory compliance within a 24/7 service.

Job Responsibility:

  • Shift Management: Lead and manage shifts to maintain high-quality service delivery, acting as the senior point of authority in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Staff Oversight: Provide operational line management, guidance, and direction to less experienced staff members
  • Case Leadership: Lead the development of care plans, conduct risk assessments, and manage complex case reviews
  • Multi-Agency Liaison: Coordinate with families and external agencies, analysing data to produce professional reports for court and statutory reviews
  • Professional Standards: Lead by example in the application of Action for Children's policies, diversity initiatives, and professional practice standards
  • Direct Care: Oversee personal care, medication administration, and clinical procedures
  • Mentorship: Support young people in developing independence through routine household tasks and stimulated activities
  • Advocacy: Ensure the participation of children and young people in decisions affecting their lives
  • Systems Management: Ensure all digital and paper files are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with administrative procedures

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential (or must be achieved within the mandatory time frame)
  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrable ability to manage, guide, and direct a team within a care setting
  • Advanced Experience: Significant experience in a residential care setting, with a proven track record of building trust and managing challenging behaviours
  • Emotional Resilience: High level of resilience to lead a team through the challenging nature of the role
  • Solution-Focused: Ability to address problems individually and within a team setting
  • Communication: Mastery of diverse communication techniques for interacting with service users, families, and professionals
  • Compliance: Deep understanding of Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and registration requirements
  • Flexibility to work a 24/7 rota, including weekends and holidays
  • Appointment is subject to a mandatory disclosure (DBS/PVG) check
