Job Description:

As a Senior Residential Childcare worker, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our residential facilities and providing guidance and support to the residential care practitioners. You will work closely with the Registered Manager and Assistant Manager to ensure the well-being, safety, and development of the children in our care. Your experience, expertise, and leadership will contribute to creating a positive and therapeutic environment for the children while promoting their holistic growth.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the residential care practitioners
  • Promote teamwork and professional development
  • Assist in the development and implementation of care plans and support strategies
  • Oversee the day-to-day care and activities within the home
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments of the children
  • Collaborate with the Registered Manager and Assistant Manager to coordinate and facilitate team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a positive and therapeutic environment within the home
  • Actively seek to build strong relationships with our young people
  • Support and implement behaviour management strategies and therapeutic interventions
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, and health and safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with external agencies, therapists, and professionals
  • Stay updated on best practices, research, and developments in the field of residential childcare
  • Attend relevant training and professional development sessions

Requirements:

  • QCF level 3 or working towards (Essential)
  • Experience working with children and young people in a residential care or childcare setting
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong understanding of child development principles, attachment theory, and trauma-informed care approaches
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to effectively manage crisis situations, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • A valid driver’s license will be required

Nice to have:

QCF level 4, 5 (desirable)
