Job Description

Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker role at Steps for Tomorrow, a new children’s home in Keighley opening in July, caring for 2 children aged 6-11 with social and emotional challenges. The main purpose is settlement into foster care or back to family. The role involves creating a nurturing, caring, safe environment and championing the rights, needs and ambitions of the children.

Job Responsibility

  • Advocate pro-actively for each child’s needs, rights, and views
  • Ensure each child’s individuality, difference and diversity are always appreciated
  • Encourage each child to be involved in all aspects of their care
  • Support staff to ensure positive and effective team working
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of systems and policies
  • Provide valuable guidance and care to help children thrive
  • Help children build healthy relationships
  • Complete either 1 or 2 'sleep ins' per week

Requirements

  • Experience as a senior residential worker in the field for a minimum of 12 months
  • Resilience, empathy, and a deep commitment to making a positive impact
  • Willingness to get immersed in activities (arts, crafting, gaming, cinema, swimming, cooking)
  • Ability to act as a role model and mentor
  • Ability to develop, demonstrate, promote and maintain a good level of awareness of safeguarding issues, assessing and recording of risk
  • Ability to supervise staff and handle key working responsibilities
