Job Description

We are recruiting an experienced Senior Residential Care Worker to join an Ofsted-registered residential home supporting adolescent boys with Learning Disabilities and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

Job Responsibility

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care that promotes the health, welfare and development of young people
  • Lead shifts and take responsibility for the operation of the home when required
  • Act as keyworker for individual young people: contribute to care plans, reviews and transitions
  • Supervise, support and develop junior staff, including carrying out formal supervisions
  • Manage day-to-day household routines (cooking, shopping, appointments, activities) and support education participation
  • Apply approved de-escalation and behaviour-management strategies, record and report incidents appropriately
  • Maintain compliance with Ofsted standards, safeguarding procedures, and company policies
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive culture that respects young people's social, emotional and cultural needs

Requirements

  • QCF / NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent (essential)
  • Proven experience working in residential childcare, ideally with young people with Learning Disabilities and EBD
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, childcare legislation and Ofsted standards
  • Experience of supervising or leading staff and conducting formal supervisions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and confident record-keeping
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and to manage challenging behaviour
  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to professional development
  • Driving licence desirable (role may involve taking young people to appointments)
