Requirements

Experience as a senior residential worker in the field for a minimum of 12 months
Resilience, empathy, and a deep commitment to making a positive impact
Willingness to get immersed in activities (arts, crafting, gaming, cinema, swimming, cooking)
Ability to act as a role model and mentor
Ability to develop, demonstrate, promote and maintain a good level of awareness of safeguarding issues, assessing and recording of risk
Ability to supervise staff and handle key working responsibilities

Job Responsibility

Advocate pro-actively for each child’s needs, rights, and views
Ensure each child’s individuality, difference and diversity are always appreciated
Encourage each child to be involved in all aspects of their care
Support staff to ensure positive and effective team working
Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of systems and policies
Provide valuable guidance and care to help children thrive
Help children build healthy relationships
Complete either 1 or 2 'sleep ins' per week

Requirements

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards)
Experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and behaviours that challenge
Previous experience in a residential childcare setting
Understanding of behaviour management, safeguarding, and person-centred support
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
Compassionate, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure
Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including sleep-ins
A full UK driving licence (or willingness to travel)

Job Responsibility

Act as shift lead, providing direction, support, and supervision to staff on duty
Deliver high-quality, individualised care to children and young people in line with care plans
Promote and implement person-centred and trauma-informed approaches
Support children to express their views, develop life skills, and participate in decisions about their care
Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and proactive de-escalation techniques
Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, incident reports, and risk assessments
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and all concerns are reported promptly
Support compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards
Act as a mentor and role model, supporting new and existing staff through guidance and supervision
Communicate effectively with managers, colleagues, families, and external professionals

Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in Children and Young People’s Workforce
Full UK Driving Licence
Flexibility to work on a rota basis including sleep ins
At least 2 years’ experience in the Residential Children’s Services sector or have worked in a similar setting working with children with challenging behaviour
At least 1 years’ experience of leading shifts in a children’s residential setting
You must undertake our Crisis prevention institute training
Good understanding of the Children’s Home Regulations and Quality standards
Good understanding of the Ofsted process and good knowledge of all current Children’s Legislation
Some knowledge around the needs of children and young people with EBD/SEMH/CSE and the support services required
