As a Senior Research Engineer, you will design, implement, and ship to customers around the world research-driven solutions that enhance human-agent interactions. You will research and innovate human oversight, assistance, and management of autonomous agents driving business processes for our customers. You will also bring apps and agents together, driving new possibilities in how agents, humans, and apps can all collaborate to streamline and automate business processes. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your applied science expertise in autonomous, LLM-driven agents, shape the future of human-AI collaboration, build and ship scalable AI systems, and work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver value to our customers.
Job Responsibility:
Gain expertise in one or more subareas and gain experience in a broad area of research, including applicable research techniques
Gain deep knowledge of a service, platform, or domain, and identify product needs by sharing the latest industry trends and applied technologies
Review business requirements and incorporate research to meet business goals
Provide strategic direction for the kinds of data used to solve problems and apply deep subject matter knowledge to support business impact
Participate in onboarding of other team members and assist in developing academics to be members of multidiscipline teams
Identify new research talent to join Microsoft and collaborate with the academic community to develop the recruiting pipeline
Document work in progress and experimentation results and share findings to promote innovation
Use your deep understanding of fairness and bias to contribute to ethics and privacy policies related to research processes and data collection
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)
OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
OR equivalent experience
4+ year(s) experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team
4+ year(s) experience developing and deploying products or systems at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
