Design, implement and maintain best data practices; Provide expert advice to researchers across IMAS and partner organisations; Full Time, Fixed Term (until December 2027) based in Hobart
Job Responsibility:
Work with and provide expert advice to researchers across IMAS and partner organisations, continuing to ensure the adoption of best data management practice
Provide training and education to researchers regarding data management best practice, and relevant policies and procedures
Work closely with relevant IT and data management staff from the University and partner to ensure operational availability of complex IT hardware and software infrastructure
Develop data visualisation tools, where possible based on existing infrastructure and data platforms
Provide expertise in managing and manipulating research datasets and in online SQL databases
Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with key projects and organisations at both national and international levels
Requirements:
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education and training
An advanced understanding of best practice in data management including the FAIR data principles and management of sensitive data
Extensive experience in supporting and administering IT infrastructure and applications, preferably in a marine research facility
Extensive knowledge and experience working with large datasets and associated storage environments including SQL databases
Demonstrated experience and understanding of web applications, their design, development, and deployment
