Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Reinsurance Broker to join our growing London team. The successful candidate will manage an established portfolio of treaty reinsurance accounts - both excess of loss and proportional - serving a diverse mix of international and London Market clients. You will also play a key role in developing new business opportunities and strengthening existing relationships. We are also open to considering an ambitious Reinsurance Technician who has direct client and underwriter interaction experience and is looking to take the next step in their career to become a specialist broker. This role reports directly to Roanoke's Chief Operating Officer and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic, supportive, and high-performing team environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and place a portfolio of reinsurance business, including XL, proportional treaty, and facultative placements - primarily marine, with some non-marine opportunities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and underwriters, ensuring clear communication and excellent service delivery
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, leveraging existing relationships and market insights
  • Discuss client reinsurance requirements directly, offering creative solutions and suitable market options
  • Prepare and present comprehensive renewal and new business submissions, including placing slips where required
  • Liaise with technical and accounting teams to resolve queries and ensure accurate documentation and compliance
  • Keep accurate records and ensure all electronic files meet FCA and RIBL compliance standards
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of marketing initiatives and business development activities
  • Uphold the FCA and PRA Conduct Rules and act in accordance with the Consumer Duty to deliver good customer outcomes

Requirements

  • Proven experience in reinsurance broking or a related client-facing reinsurance role, ideally within the London Market
  • Strong understanding of treaty and facultative placements, both marine and non-marine
  • Excellent working knowledge of UK and international reinsurance markets
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills - able to build trust with clients, colleagues, and market partners
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability with sound attention to detail
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work flexibly within a team
  • Familiarity with PPL/Whitespace, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Commitment to professional development and maintaining the highest standards of conduct, integrity, and customer focus
