Job Description:

A respected Chicago-based law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Real Estate Paralegal to support sophisticated commercial real estate matters. This role involves hands-on responsibility for complex transactions and close collaboration with attorneys, clients, lenders, and third parties. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge, strong judgment, and the ability to manage transactions from start to finish in a fast-paced legal environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Coordinate and manage commercial real estate transactions independently while working collaboratively with attorneys and legal support staff
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding transaction progress with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Collect, organize, and review due diligence documentation to ensure satisfaction of closing conditions, including lender and institutional requirements
  • Review entity formation records, governance documents, authorizing resolutions, and related materials
  • Draft, revise, and analyze real estate and corporate documents, including acquisition agreements, amendments, escrow-related documents, and closing materials
  • Conduct detailed reviews of title insurance commitments, policies, easements, and supporting documentation
  • identify and resolve title issues
  • Review and approve draft title policies and applicable endorsements prior to closing
  • Analyze surveys, plats, and site plans to identify issues affecting legal descriptions, access, easements, restrictions, encroachments, and other matters impacting ownership or development
  • Review zoning, land use, and property-related reports for commercial assets and flag potential concerns
  • Create, maintain, and update transaction checklists to track progress and ensure compliance with closing requirements
  • Lead transaction-related calls and assist with coordinating communications among clients, lenders, and advisors

Requirements:

  • Minimum of ten years of experience as a real estate paralegal supporting complex commercial and lending transactions
  • Advanced proficiency in reviewing title commitments, surveys, corporate records, and real estate due diligence materials
  • Demonstrated experience closing a high volume of sophisticated real estate transactions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, and professional staff
  • Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative legal team
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with document management and timekeeping systems
