Job Description

Our client, a family office, is seeking a Real Estate Property Accountant. This standalone role works directly with the President and is responsible for a small portfolio of commercial properties in New York City. The position is onsite in New York, NY and is ideal for someone with strong tenure who is seeking a long-term opportunity.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee end-to-end accounting activities for a portfolio of commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties
  • Maintain the general ledger, including posting journal entries, managing accruals, and supporting monthly and annual close processes
  • Prepare and support operating expense and common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, including tenant chargebacks and recoveries
  • Produce and analyze periodic financial reports at both the individual property and consolidated portfolio levels
  • Manage lease related accounting, including rent schedules, tenant account activity, operating expense allocations, and recovery billings
  • Handle day-to-day accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely vendor payments and accurate tenant collections

Requirements

  • Commercial real estate accounting experience with direct exposure to NYC commercial portfolios
  • Hands-on, daily working proficiency with Yardi Breeze
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and real estate, specific accounting principles
  • Ability to independently manage multiple properties with exceptional accuracy and organization
  • Experience supporting private ownership structures, lender reporting, and transaction related activities
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting
