Job Description:

Senior Radiographer to join the Imaging department, supporting the launch of the new CT service. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Actively participate in the efficient and safe operation of the Imaging Department, providing a consistent, high-quality service to all patients and visitors
  • Carry out general and specialised radiographic procedures within your scope of competence to high technical and quality standards, assessing patients & interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques
  • Undertake imaging examinations in line with department operational procedures and policies, using techniques that produce the lowest radiation dose to the patient and staff whilst producing high quality, diagnostic images
  • Practice good radiation, protection and safety and observe Local Rules and Systems of Work
  • Comply with departmental IRMER and Radiation Safety Policies & Procedures
  • Participate in supervision, training and peer review within your area of competence / expertise

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within the acute healthcare sector
  • Experience of customer care, including interacting with challenging customers and situations
  • Can undertake I.V. contrast injections
  • A Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Healthcare Professionals Council (HCPC) registration
  • Minimum of 2 years CT experience is required

  • Be responsible for the use of IV contrast agent administration
  • Ensure IV training and monitoring procedures are in place (training to include anaphylaxis reactions) and performing IV contrast administration cannulation
  • Adapt the service to respond to long and short term demands
  • Work with colleagues and Clinical Specialists to ensure the daily workload is organised in line with clinical priorities
  • Excellent communication skills needed to liaise with both staff within the department, throughout the hospital and various external sources in order to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians
  • Knowledge of the HIQA regulations pertaining to ionising radiation
  • Be familiar with and understand the Clinic’s policies and procedures in relation to Infection Control, Fire, Health and Safety at Work regulations and to attend mandatory training
