We are recruiting for a Senior Radioactive Waste Management Consultant to join our team. Due to the rapid growth of our business in the civil nuclear waste management sector, we require more support to deliver and continue to expand our expertise. We have a leading role in waste strategy, inventory and compliance underpinning the future management of radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuels and nuclear materials. We also support clients with Site End-State decision making and underpinning environmental activities. In the UK, we deliver a diverse range of projects for waste producers, waste management organisations and strategic authorities across all aspects of the waste lifecycle. We are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including projects for clients in Norway, Central & Eastern Europe and Japan. You will focus on the development and assessment of radioactive waste inventories and characterisation data to support waste management strategies. You will also provide support to other projects in the areas of decommissioning and environmental management. Job Responsibility:
Analysing problems and developing solutions
The development of radioactive waste management strategies including consideration of the most appropriate method for treatment and/or disposal
and high-level strategic studies to support and underpin decision-making at different stages of the radioactive waste lifecycle
Assessment of different options using recognised approaches such as BAT and BPEO
Reviewing and assimilating numerical data/information including characterisation data and radionuclide inventories
Consideration of approaches for radioactive waste conditioning and packaging
Production of high-quality technical reports on the outcome of your work
Interactions with and presentation of results to customers and stakeholder engagement activities (including facilitation)
Business development activities
Delivering work to agreed timescales and cost
Requirements:
Degree in a physical science or engineering discipline OR equivalent training/experience
Experience in radioactive waste management
Good technical writing skills
Flexible, innovative and keen to develop skills
Adaptable, able to work on a number of varied projects at the same time, prioritising as appropriate
Able to work in multi-disciplinary teams
Enthusiasm to apply skills to the solution of real-world problems
