Job Description:

We currently have a vacancy for full time, Senior Radiation Therapist to join the Radiotherapy team. The role will report to the Radiotherapy Services Manager. There department has two Elekta Synergy Linear accelerators with Cone beam capabilities and Ireland’s first CyberKnife Centre. The Radiotherapy Department has three treatment areas and three Radiation Oncologists whom have clinics on a weekly basis.

Job Responsibility:

  • Demonstrate clinical reasoning and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of patients
  • Demonstrate evidence based practice through decision making
  • Follow current best practice guidelines
  • Ensure that the Radiotherapy service delivered to patients meets departmental standards of practice
  • Participate in discussion with Radiotherapy colleagues on clinical practice issues
  • Provide clinical leadership and instruction to students
  • Maintain accurate information systems for clinical data in accordance with departmental and hospital policies
  • Conduct treatment assessments of patients
  • Assessment of pre-treatment planning images and approval of verification images after completion of required competency training programme
  • Assessment of treatment plans
  • Actively participate in projects/research/audits in clinical area
  • Support Clinical Specialist in the review of radiotherapy best practice

Requirements:

  • BSc in Radiotherapy, or equivalent qualification
  • CORU registration
  • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Experience in advising and supporting staff at a junior level
  • Research skills
