We are seeking an experimental quantum information physicist, applied physicist, or electrical engineer with a background in qubit measurements to participate in the research and development of our qubits. Job Responsibility

  • Develop and run qubit experiments and recognize opportunities to innovate
  • You will demonstrate expertise with and perform measurement techniques to advance quantum practices and devices (e.g., low temperature, RF measurements).
  • You will identify opportunities to streamline and automate quantum measurement, and leverage expertise in instrumentation involved.
  • You will guide cross-team collaboration across Quantum for efficient use of company expertise and work across teams and ensure contact with others. You'll document work and make available internally and externally to the team to leverage work across teams.
  • You will support public engagements focused on quantum computing and support general outreach efforts with researchers, students, and the quantum curious. You may contribute to the creation of intellectual property to educate others about quantum computing.
  • You will use engineering best practices to build tools and processes necessary to enable progress in quantum research and share tips and techniques related to a particular instrument. You'll help develop tools and documentation and drive consistency and accessibility within teams.
  • You will model safety standards and practices including compliance with policies, adherence to safety in variety of work environments, and escalating issues with appropriate urgency. You may assist in defining and implementing safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND experience in industry or in a research and development environment, could include completion of a post doctoral research position
  • OR Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND solid experience in industry or in a research and development environment
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND significant experience in industry or in a research and development environment
  • OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.   • Ability to leverage AI tools to drive innovation and efficiency (e.g., performance modeling and analysis, research gathering, day to day task automation)
  • Ability to design and build AI agents/copilots that assist with experiment setup, log triage, measurement report generation, protocol templating, and knowledge retrieval (e.g. instrument manuals, design docs)
  • Solid (PhD included) experience with low-noise electronic measurements (lockin amplifiers, analog pre-amps, etc.), cryogenic techniques (He3 cryostats or dilution refrigerators), electrical transport characterization (for semiconductors, dielectrics, and superconductors).
  • Solid experience with RF reflectometry measurements and time-domain control of qubits
  • Experience in developing code in a version-controlled environment (git, svn).
  • Experience with the physics of Majorana bound states and topological properties of matter

Nice to have
