Job Description:

Due to growth, we have the opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. Our Commercial Managers take ownership of ensuring that the group commercial strategy is implemented within their relevant business unit, they build strong relationships within their business and with customers to help us deliver safe, good quality, profitable services. They act as the conduit between operations and finance, mitigating risks and driving performance wherever possible.

Job Responsibility:

Lead all commercial aspects of tenders — from cost modelling and risk review to board approvals
Develop and implement pricing strategies that support profitable growth and operational agility
Support project and contract delivery by tracking performance, maximising margins, and issuing key contractual notices
Own the commercial forecasting process — working with stakeholders to report on revenue, costs, and cashflow
Manage working capital by driving timely invoicing, monitoring WIP, and supporting cashflow targets
Be a trusted business partner — managing subcontractors, leading customer negotiations, and guiding teams on commercial best practice

Requirements:

Proven experience in a similar commercial or financial role, ideally within a multi-divisional organisation
Strong negotiation skills
Clear understanding of the differences between cashflow and revenue
Practical ideas for improving cashflow and revenue
Up-to-date knowledge of contractual law and commercial practice is desirable
Willingness to learn
Commercially astute
Process-driven
Ability to work independently
Ability to take ownership of commercial activities
Ability to implement and improve processes that drive performance
