We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering major projects across multiple regulated and non-regulated sectors. The business operates across a broad range of infrastructure and engineering environments, including water, transport, energy, and general civil engineering. Projects are delivered through frameworks, standalone schemes, and long-term client partnerships. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple civil engineering projects across London and surrounding areas. You will work closely with operational teams, project managers, clients, and the supply chain to ensure robust commercial control is maintained throughout the project lifecycle. The role will involve managing cost, value, risk, and contractual obligations across a varied portfolio of works, including both planned and reactive schemes. You will be expected to take ownership of key commercial processes, support project delivery, and contribute to the financial performance of the business unit.
Job Responsibility:
Preparation of accurate cost and value reports
Monthly CVRs, forecasting, and cost control
Cash flow forecasting and financial reporting
Applications for payment and final account preparation
Identification of commercial risk and opportunity
Supporting margin improvement and cost efficiency
Administration of standard construction contracts (NEC and/or similar industry forms)
Subcontract procurement, negotiation, and management
Managing subcontract accounts and payments
Supporting change management, variations, and claims
Ensuring appropriate contract compliance across supply chain agreements
Liaising with clients and stakeholders on commercial matters
Supporting operational teams with financial and commercial advice
Working collaboratively to support project delivery and forecasting
Ensuring alignment between site progress and commercial reporting
Ensuring compliance with internal commercial procedures
Supporting continuous improvement of commercial processes
Maintaining accurate records and reporting in line with deadlines
Requirements:
Experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within construction or civil engineering
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (and/or similar standard forms)
Experience in subcontract management and procurement
Strong experience in monthly reporting, forecasting, and CVRs
Excellent numerical, analytical, and IT skills (particularly Excel/MS Office)
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage workload and deadlines effectively
Nice to have:
Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
Working towards or holding professional membership (e.g. RICS)
Experience in water, utilities, or wider infrastructure sectors
Experience working within a self-delivery or direct delivery environment
