Job Description:

Senior Quantity Surveyor role on a major rail infrastructure scheme delivering enhancements including construction of two new stations, extensive earthworks, structure renewals and replacements, and new permanent way along a previously disused line.

Job Responsibility:

  • Acting as the commercial lead for a geographically focused team, providing expertise and guidance to support project delivery
  • Producing accurate and timely commercial reports, forecasts, and advice for the management team
  • Managing all commercial aspects of the contract, ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place and commercial targets are achieved
  • Supporting the bid team during pre-contract stages and throughout delivery
  • Preparing and pricing contracts, overseeing procurement, and ensuring best value solutions
  • Working closely with design and delivery teams to drive cost savings and efficiencies
  • Identifying and managing risks and opportunities in line with company and client processes

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in rail or large-scale civil engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (Option C/E preferred)
  • Track record of providing clear and accurate commercial reporting and advice
  • Ability to manage commercial teams and support project leadership effectively
  • Skilled in procurement, contract preparation, cost forecasting and reporting
  • Excellent stakeholder and client relationship skills, with confidence to challenge and influence
  • Experience within the civil engineering industry is essential for this role, ideally coming from a main contractor background
