Job Description

Ganymede Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 Civil Engineering Contractor seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major infrastructure programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a long-term project that will play an important role in strengthening the UK's critical infrastructure. You'll be joining an established commercial team on a complex civil engineering scheme, offering genuine long-term security and the opportunity to work on one of the country's largest infrastructure investments. Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for the commercial management of a portfolio of works from procurement through to final account. Working closely with operational teams, clients and the supply chain, you'll ensure commercial performance is maximised while maintaining strong contractual compliance throughout project delivery. The role offers exposure to large-scale civil engineering works and would suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, or a Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a senior position within a major contractor environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Take ownership of the commercial performance of allocated work packages throughout the project lifecycle
  • Administer NEC contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are effectively managed
  • Manage subcontract procurement, contract administration and final accounts
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment, valuations and financial forecasts
  • Assess, negotiate and agree compensation events and commercial changes
  • Produce accurate monthly cost reports, CVRs and cash flow forecasts
  • Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance
  • Provide commercial support and advice to operational and project delivery teams
  • Build positive working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
  • Assist with risk management, cost control and commercial strategy
  • Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a civil engineering or infrastructure environment
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Experience managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
  • Excellent commercial awareness with strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to produce accurate financial reporting and cost forecasts
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor or major principal contractor is desirable
  • Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

  • Support continuous improvement and development of commercial processes and team capability
