Our client is a utilities service provider specialising in the delivery of integrated power and communications solutions, offering full turnkey services. They are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering and utility contracts, focusing on cost management, contract administration, and risk mitigation. Reporting to the Senior/Chief Quantity Surveyor, this role will involve evaluating and managing contractual risks while ensuring cost-effective project delivery from start to finish.
Job Responsibility:
Cost Management: Ensure cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle, reducing costs while meeting legal and quality standards
Contract Administration: Oversee daily commercial and contract management across a range of power projects and framework contracts
Subcontractor Management: Negotiate rates, agree on variations, and manage subcontractor applications and payments
Tender Submissions: Prepare and analyze tender costs, review terms, and assess subcontract responses
Cost Reporting: Generate monthly reports, analyze cost vs. value, and contribute to monthly CVRs
Site Visits & Meetings: Attend progress review meetings and site visits as needed
Requirements:
Minimum of eight years experience as a Quantity Surveyor, particularly in civil engineering and utility contracts
Strong knowledge of NEC Option A and JCT contract forms
Proficient in cost control systems (e.g., Evision) and MS Office
Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
Customer-focused, with the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively
