We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a cost management team in Oxfordshire. You will play a pivotal role in providing expert advice on the costs involved in building projects from site preparation, construction, labour, materials and plant, through to fitting out costs, professional charges, taxes, and anticipated running costs of new buildings. This role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects with prestigious clients, making a tangible impact on the delivery of high-quality developments.
Job Responsibility:
Provide comprehensive cost advice across all stages of building projects
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships
Lead on cost planning (including use of Cost X) at various RIBA stages, producing preliminary and detailed cost estimates
Deliver pre-contract services, including Procurement strategy and tendering advice, Preparation of tender documents and contract arrangements and Negotiation and agreement of contract sums (two-stage tendering experience advantageous)
Deliver post-contract services, including Advising on contractual matters and procedures, Valuing completed work and approving progress payments, managing design changes, variations and cost reporting and negotiating final accounts
Work closely with the team, mentoring graduates and contributing to a collaborative working environment
Develop and maintain strong client relationships to support ongoing business growth
Requirements:
Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
MRICS qualification preferred (but not essential)
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a strong track record across various project stages
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build strong client relationships
Commercially astute with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Sound knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
