Job Description:

Reporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead for the UK, your role as Senior Quantity Surveyor will involve delivering work with water companies or the Environment Agency in the Midlands area predominantly, with the opportunity to work in the North West of England in consultancy roles. However, there will be an opportunity for progression between the UK water, environment, and nuclear sectors. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have knowledge and experience in pre- and post-contract management in NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC and procurement within the UK water, environment, and nuclear sectors. The senior quantity surveyor will be expected to utilise their major project experience and knowledge to drive efficiencies and effective supply chain engagement and contract management. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have experience working with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/ or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build major capital programmes.

Job Responsibility:

  • NEC3/4 Option A, Option C, Option E ECC Contract management and administration client side
  • Budget control
  • Payment valuation and assisting the PM in payment certification
  • Actual cost forecasting and Defined Cost determination
  • Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
  • Feasibility studies and cost planning
  • Preparation of tender documentation
  • Evaluation of tenders
  • Risk management
  • Management and administration of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms
  • Cost control and valuation
  • Evaluation and negotiation of change orders or variations
  • Claims and dispute resolution
  • Final accounts and post-project evaluation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying
  • Full Membership of chartered body such RICS or a substantively progressed route on an approved APC pathway
  • A wealth of experience postgraduate in Rail, Nuclear, Water and/ or Environment
  • Line Management and recruitment experience of Quantity Surveyors or Assistant Quantity Surveyors
  • CDM regulation knowledge and experience
  • Risk management experience
  • Valid CSCS card, with Water Hygiene Card desirable
  • Main contractor and/or joint venture experience working client side
  • Site presence and co-location minimum 3 days a week
  • An experienced user of the NEC3-4 suite of contracts (A-C-E must have)
  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • This role is subject to a client interview and acceptance
