Be the driving force behind our success! The E4 – Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and manage project quality scope, estimates, and deliverables
Identify quality risks, propose mitigation plans, and monitor implementation
Work closely with engineering teams, supply chain, contract management, construction management, and suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and QA requirements
Provide direction for in-house and contracted field inspectors
Participate in strategic sourcing, define evaluation criteria, assess proposals, and perform supplier evaluations and surveillance
Manage supplier improvement plans and monitor progress
Review inspection and test plans and contractor submittals
Witness testing (including factory acceptance tests) and verify compliance with standards
Lead factory or site construction audits
Initiate and lead resolution of non-conformities
Prepare clear, concise reports, memos, and project quality plans
Initiate new work releases with quality service providers
Balance technical knowledge, business sense, and communication skills to deliver efficient solutions
Be self-motivated and thrive in managing multiple concurrent projects (up to 10 at various stages)
Requirements:
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with 8+ years of experience (minimum 2 years in QA)
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with EGBC
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office, databases, and web tools
Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Must be able to travel independently to remote areas of BC (including winter conditions) and to supplier locations in and outside Canada
Strong planning, scheduling, and multi-tasking skills required
Nice to have:
Hydroelectric or electric utility experience (transmission, substations, generation)
Knowledge of QA tools and methods
Public procurement processes
Auditing experience (manufacturing, construction site, or plant evaluations)
Civil/structural design concepts and interpretation of drawings/specifications
Concrete mix design, testing, and repair methodologies
