This is a professional position responsible for providing various functions in the WIC Certification process for the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Job Responsibility:
Provide various functions in the WIC Certification process for the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
Certify and provide appropriate nutrition assessment and nutrition counseling for eligible clients (pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women, infants, and children to age five)
Utilize established nutrition criteria to assess nutritional and anthropometric information to assign appropriate nutrition risks and food packages
Provide individual nutrition counseling based on nutritional assessment, anthropometric and laboratory data
Conduct classes, demonstrations, and other nutrition education activities for WIC clients
Promote and support breastfeeding to WIC clients and the community
Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating the public health nutrition program for WIC clients, health department patients, and staff.
Requirements:
Clear/active Florida license in Dietetics/Nutrition
Supervisory experience including communicating, motivating, training, and evaluating employees
Experience in planning and directing employees’ work
Experience in nutrition assessment and counseling
Experience conducting classes, demonstrations, and nutrition education activities
Knowledge of WIC policies and procedures, breastfeeding, and nutrition
Attendance at relevant seminars and workshops to keep current in field.
