Job Description:

The town of Brookline seeks a qualified Senior Public Health Inspector to perform inspectional and investigative work related to the enforcement of public health and environmental regulations. This position plays a key role in protecting community health through inspection, education, and enforcement activities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Enforcing federal, state, and local health codes
  • Inspecting and licensing food establishments, retail food stores, nursing homes, day care centers, and special events
  • Investigating food-borne illness complaints
  • Reviewing plans for new food establishments
  • Responding to complaints regarding unsanitary or unsafe living conditions, lead paint, asbestos, septic systems, pests, solid and hazardous waste, and other environmental health concerns
  • Conducting inspections of pools, camps, lodging houses, massage and body art establishments, and demolition projects
  • Initiating enforcement actions when necessary

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, environmental health science, or related field and two years of relevant experience required
  • or an equivalent combination
  • Must be eligible for Massachusetts Registered Sanitarian
  • Hold required professional certifications
  • Hold a valid MA driver’s license
