Job Description:

Lawes Consulting is delighted to be partnering with a Lloyds Syndicate to recruit a Senior Property Underwriter, based in their Manchester office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced underwriter to manage and grow a diverse portfolio of Property risks, working closely with both national and independent brokers across the region.

Job Responsibility:

  • Underwrite commercial property risks within your authority level
  • Assess risks by analysing financial data, property conditions, and risk exposures
  • Determine appropriate terms and conditions as well as suitable premiums
  • Ensure underwriting decisions align with company guidelines, risk appetite, and profitability targets
  • Review, negotiate and amend policy terms, endorsements, and exclusions as required
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Brokers, Clients, and other key stakeholders
  • Work closely with other departments such as Claims, Accounts, and Legal teams
  • Be a point of referral for Junior staff
  • Assist in the training and development of other staff
  • Handle all queries and issues that may arise from your workload
  • Provide advice and technical support to Brokers and Clients
  • Maintain accurate Underwriting records

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in Property Underwriting
  • Proven background in assessing and Underwriting Property risks
  • Experience working with a mix of national and independent brokers
  • Solid understanding of the UK Property insurance market
  • Strong technical expertise in Property insurance products
  • Effective communicator with strong broker relationship skills
  • Strong experience from an Underwriting background
  • Commercially focused, with the ability to balance risk and opportunity
  • Confident in decision-making and prioritising workload
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently within a team environment
