Job Description

Responsible for the provision of 1st class service to brokers. This includes managing new business quotations and mid-term adjustments under the authorities delegated by the capacity providers for each facility. Takes ownership of and handles enquiries ensuring high customer service including developing new and existing broker relationships. The team is responsible for managing and developing relationships with insurers, brokers and other stakeholders according to the scope of their role; ensuring that systems and processes support and adhere to underwriting and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibility

  • Processing new business quotations and mid-term adjustments in accordance with Company policy and agreed authority limits
  • Liaising with the Peers and Insurers for a decision if or when a higher-level referral is necessary
  • Supporting robust underwriting practices in accordance with agreed Insurer guidelines and delegated underwriting authorities
  • Engaging with broker panel to develop and sustain relationships and drive New Business enquiries
  • Support the Senior Management team in ensuring operational processes preserve underwriting integrity and meet FCA and other regulatory requirements
  • Proactively respond to customer queries and answer queries in a timely fashion
  • Working across all products with the ability to be/or strive to be multiskilled
  • Remain vigilant to the potential opportunities for financial crime, fraud and money laundering and take actions appropriate to mitigate their likelihood and impact
  • Any other responsibilities or objectives above and beyond this role profile that are required and are within the competence of the role holder

Requirements

  • Good standard of education – A level Maths and English (or equivalent) is preferred
  • CII qualifications up to ACII (or equivalent) is preferred
  • Experience of working within an Underwriting and/or Broker function
  • A sound understanding of Property and Liability insurance
  • A detailed understanding and experience of, the commercial property and liability market

  • Excellent organisational skills and high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with others internally and externally
  • The ability to negotiate and influence results
  • The ability to assess technical risk, apply that knowledge to make sound decisions within authority levels
  • The ability to demonstrate the building and maintaining of internal and external relationships
  • The ability to demonstrate meeting and exceeding personal objectives and company wide targets
  • An awareness of the market and legal/industry developments which could affect the writing of business
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of technical Underwriting, including reserving and earning models
  • Highly computer literate with experience of MSO packages
  • Good problem-solving skills and the experience to prioritise work and meet specified deadlines
