We are looking for an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our team in Laguna Beach, California. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in commercial real estate accounting and financial management. You will play a key role in managing diverse property portfolios, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee property tax records, process payments, and track assessed values to ensure accurate reporting
Approve and initiate wire transfers while maintaining detailed cash management documentation
Review and document lease provisions using Yardi and Excel, ensuring compliance and accuracy
Calculate retail and percentage rent, prepare reconciliations, and coordinate tenant communications
Process internal management fee payments and ensure adherence to local and state regulations for all entities
Generate journal entries, perform monthly bank reconciliations, and review balance sheet accounts such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, and prepaid expenses
Assist in budgeting for taxes, insurance, and licenses while supporting property acquisitions and onboarding
Provide backup support for accounts payable and receivable teams and contribute to policy development
Participate in software implementation projects and complete ad-hoc assignments as required
Requirements:
Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate
Proficiency in month-end close processes, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and concepts, with exceptional attention to detail
Experience with Yardi software and commercial property accounting is mandatory
Familiarity with general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes
Demonstrated skills in handling complex financial transactions and ensuring compliance
Effective communication and organizational abilities to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
