We’re seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to manage full cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including financial reporting, reconciliations, CAMs, and month end close. This role partners closely with property management and asset management to ensure GAAP compliance, accurate reporting, and strong internal controls. This is a fully remote position, and candidates must be located within the United States ideally in the East Coast.
Job Responsibility:
Manage full-cycle property accounting for an assigned portfolio
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, CAM, and escrow accounts
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules
Perform monthly close activities and ensure timely reporting
Review and analyze variance reports and investigate discrepancies
Oversee CAM reconciliations and tenant billings
Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts
Support internal and external audits, providing schedules and documentation
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Mentor and review work of junior property accounting staff as needed
Partner closely with property managers and asset management teams
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of property or real estate accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting practices
Experience with CAM reconciliations and lease accounting
Proficiency with property management and accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar)
