The Senior Property Accountant will enhance financial processes and ensure accurate, efficient day‑to‑day accounting operations across the real-estate portfolio. This role oversees AP, AR, general ledger management, and financial reporting. It also includes direct supervision of an AR‑focused bookkeeper and close collaboration with property operations, asset management, and corporate finance.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee accounts payable and ensure timely, accurate invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense allocations
Manage integrity and accuracy across all modules (GL, AP, AR), including troubleshooting, data validation, and compliance audits
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting standards
Prepare, review, and post journal entries with complete and accurate documentation
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Support corporate accounting tasks, including budgeting, allocations, and shared‑services entries
Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external financial reports
Supervise and support accounts receivable processes, including rent posting, collections, ledger accuracy, and AR reconciliations
Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities for assigned properties, including accruals, adjustments, and variance analysis
Prepare audit schedules, gather documentation, and ensure timely audit responses
Partner cross‑functionally on budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and other planning activities
Supervise, mentor, and support the Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper
Standardize accounting procedures and documentation for the multifamily portfolio
Partner with operations, asset management, and corporate teams to resolve financial issues and maintain alignment between functions
Support the Controller with system improvements, cross‑departmental projects, and process enhancements
Maintain knowledge through trainings, workshops, and networks
Participate actively in team meetings, trainings, and organizational events
Promote the organization’s mission, values, and DEI commitments
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in accounting, finance, or related field
Minimum 4+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience
property management, real estate, or multifamily housing experience preferred
Strong background in AP, AR, GL management, and month‑end close
Proficiency in bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
Solid understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to streamline processes and improve financial operations
