The Senior Project Manager (Sr. PM) is responsible for the successful analysis, initiation, planning, execution, and closeout of complex healthcare IT and research programs and projects. Reporting to the Director, PMO or designee, this role oversees enterprise-wide initiatives that may include healthcare processes, clinical applications and interfaces, business and administrative systems, and enabling technologies and infrastructure. The Sr. PM must demonstrate strong leadership in a matrixed environment, effectively communicate with executive-level stakeholders, and lead teams through influence rather than direct authority. This role may also include direct oversight of vendors and contract labor.
Job Responsibility:
Participate in strategic planning and tactical execution of clinical research data projects from analysis through implementation
Facilitate communication between project partners, clinical researchers, and data scientists to support research data acquisition and utilization
Provide coordination, management, and oversight of project management activities for the Health Data Informatics and Research team in a cross-functional environment
Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to project management, contract relations, purchasing, and fiscal planning
Assist in the preparation of program reports including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual updates
Coordinate meeting management support including drafting agendas, capturing meeting minutes, tracking action items, and supporting committees, advisory panels, and stakeholder groups
Maintain consistent project status communications with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical field
Minimum of five years of project management experience leading information technology projects from initiation through closeout
Experience managing all phases of project management including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, risk and issue management, governance, and change control
Experience working within or alongside a Healthcare IT Project Management Office
Strong technical project management skills with experience developing business cases, project justifications, and return on investment analyses
Experience with healthcare electronic data capture systems, including electronic medical record systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional executive-level presence
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of research regulatory requirements, formal project management methodologies, and comprehensive business requirements gathering and analysis
Nice to have:
Master's degree in a related field
Understanding of clinical trials research and associated processes
Research budget management experience
Experience with clinical data research projects and or working in an academic medical environment
Familiarity with HL7 Clinical Document Architecture and or Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources
Experience with Cerner electronic medical record systems
Experience with Amazon Web Services and cloud-based platforms
