Job Description:

Our Client is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to coordinate engineering activities within their Utilities division. You will ensure timely, cost-effective project delivery while maintaining high standards of safety and client satisfaction. This role involves leading site teams, managing project finances, and occasionally stepping into Project Manager responsibilities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and update project schedules and three-week look-aheads
  • Identify contractual risks, prepare variations, and review subcontractor claims
  • Implement cost-effective construction methodologies and monitor margins
  • Ensure all materials and services meet QA requirements and technical specs
  • Lead a proactive safety culture through pre-starts and risk assessments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (accredited by Engineers Australia)
  • Formal Project Management accreditation (AIPM, PMP, or equivalent)
  • 7+ years of experience in Construction, specifically Civil or Utilities
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and complex project budgets

  • Prepare conceptual designs to assist clients in defining project scope including but not limited to site layouts, preliminary cost estimating, schedule formation, agency review identification, and manhour estimates to establish fee needed to complete the work
  • Independently create layouts, detailed designs, plans, specifications and estimates for pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, tanks and other water and wastewater storage and conveyance systems
  • Engineering/process design, project coordination, determining and writing engineering specifications, planning work, establish appropriate design methods, report preparation and coordination, equipment sizing and selection and working directly with the owner
  • Calculate and prepare engineering documents for respective engineering discipline, including details, schedules and cost estimates for projects, performing life cycle cost analyses, performing hydraulic analysis calculations and developing hydraulic profiles, and coordinating with CADD technicians for construction plan production
  • The selection and application of engineering systems and materials in accordance with the latest governing codes applicable to the project type will be required
