We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join our team at the Concept Design stage of a key nuclear infrastructure project. This role offers the opportunity to shape critical engineering solutions for the replacement and upgrade of mechanical piped services within a Nuclear Safety Implicated facility. You will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering the technical scope across the project lifecycle, collaborating closely with internal teams, supply chain partners, and external stakeholders. As the project progresses, you may also lead a small team of MEICA engineers, ensuring high-quality outputs and alignment with project, safety, and legislative standards. This is a vital role within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting successful project delivery from design through to completion.
Job Responsibility:
Joining the project at Concept Design stage, you will be required to influence the development of engineering solutions for the replacement and upgrade of mechanical piped services within a Nuclear Safety Implicated facility
Throughout the project lifecycle, as a Senior Project Engineer you will be responsible for the planning and coordination of project technical scope elements, coordinating inputs with functional SME’s and supply chain partners, to ensure the proper implementation of the scope for successful delivery of the overall project
As the project progresses, you may be responsible for growing and leading a small team of MEICA engineers and holding accountability for the outputs from your team
You will be responsible for all aspects of the Mechanical scope, supporting the Project Manager in project engineering and contractor management activities
You will be aligned to the Engineering Function (MEICA), mobilised as part of a project delivery team with responsibility to support a discipline or scope of work within a multidisciplinary construction project on behalf of the operations/project lead
You will be responsible for delivering the assigned scope through agreed phases of the project life cycle to reach successful completion, deliver work that meets legislative and project requirements in accordance with Morgan Sindall standards all whilst meeting customer satisfaction criteria
Requirements:
Level 6 Bachelor of Engineering degree, class 2:1 or above in a mechanical engineering related course, ideally accredited by a professional engineering institution such as IMechE, IET, IChemE, CIBSE or similar
An alternative Level 4, mechanical or electrical engineering related qualification with relevant experience and CPD training will also be considered
Specific training and experience in your primary engineering discipline (Mechanical) but with wider multi-discipline understanding and appreciation required to participate in and manage a multi-disciplined team
Experience in project life-cycle inputs through gated processes with a construction and commissioning focus from Concept Design to Setting to Work and Handover to client operations teams
Experience of influencing engineering solutions from Concept / Early Design stage
Contract / Sub-contract management experience, ideally in accordance with NEC form of contract
You must be a UK sole national, with ability to obtain SC level Security Clearance, in compliance with our client’s security policy
Technical experience in the following areas is essential: Application of DSEAR in the successful delivery of projects
Application of PSSR in the successful delivery of projects
Overseeing the development and implementation of Safe Systems of Work in relation to pipe services scope
Having undertaken a technical lead role in the delivery of piped services project/s
Highly developed appreciation of, and ability to influence, the design for safe and efficient operations and maintenance of piped services and associated mechanical plant and equipment
Nice to have:
Experience in the following areas would be highly desirable: HP/LP Air Systems
Diesel Fuel Oil and/or other Petrochemical storage and distribution systems
Water storage, distribution and pumping systems
Nitrogen distribution
Seismic Designed elements
Ability to develop commissioning strategies
Appreciation of Nuclear Safety Case principles
